Mask I Wear

I wear a mask that shades and hides
The blankness that shows is but lies
Underneath lies a person who cries and smiles
A person who has emotions hidden by human scrutiny
This fact makes most want mutiny

The happiness I show is not all lies
But not all that dwells but not all that lies beneath the mask that belies
I have emotions that lie below
However, these are not the ones that show

I live in fear to show myself
A fear that others have besides this one self
I wish to leave this fear behind
But I cannot escape the evil that confines
